We enjoy all of our concerts but every now and again one comes along that has us saying to each other ‘How good was that?’ One such event was the appearance in July 2018 by Veronica and Max – there was a real feel-good atmosphere in the hall before, during and after the performance. And the couple loved the Lowdham audience. On a hot evening, we had the benefit of being able to use the main hall as opposed to the meeting room, which was a real plus! Next year, Veronica and max are visiting the UK slightly earlier in the year, which means that we have been able to book them for the week of the Lowdham Book Festival, so we will be able to use the main hall again.
Veronica Sbergia & Max De Bernardi passionately play country blues and ragtime, hokum, jug band and rural music from the 20’s and 30’s. They like to keep this precious musical heritage alive faithfully reproducing its original sound whilst playing it a modern twist.
Together they represent an irresistible blend of blues, ragtime, vaudeville music and Jug band music played using strictly acoustic instruments such ukuleles, washboard, kazoo, acoustic and resophonic guitars.
Max & Veronica won the European Blues Challenge 2013, held in Toulouse in 2013 and were selected in January 2015, for the International Blues Challenge in Memphis .
They have toured in Austria, Belgium, USA, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Norway, Spain, Germany, England, Scotland, Poland, Romania, and Italy.
We are already looking forward to welcoming them back!

“This was great entertainment and music that put a smile on your face. The audience flocked around the stage enthusiastically lapping up the ‘old style blues’ pouring from it”
